Ready to Reach Your Potential?
All Concentric Rehabilitation Centre’s employ occupational therapists (OT) to work within our multidisciplinary team
NDIS Occupational Therapy
They deliver treatments which maximise functional capacity, independence and wellbeing of people living with disabilities as well as making it easier to complete daily tasks.
OT is particularly important for those living with disabilities, who may need help with:
- Improving their cognitive skills such as problem solving, memory and attention
- Self-care e.g dressing, bathing, eating and drinking
- Improving their fine/gross motor skills e.g. walking, writing, balance and sitting
- Sensory processing and visual perception
- Musculoskeletal rehabilitation
If you are an individual living with a disability and require help with assistive technology, modifications around your home, improved daily living or capacity building, our occupational therapist can help you.
After your initial assessment with our OT, we will coordinate with you, our multidisciplinary team and your carer to assist in developing a treatment plan and strategy that is best suited to your needs.
If you would like to find out more about how our physiotherapists can help you, then feel free to give us a call or click the live chat button below.
How does an occupational therapist assess you?
Occupational therapists use a variety of industry-recognised tests to assess their patients. For example, they may use an Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS) test to assess your motor and processing skills. From there, your OT can form an idea of how you’re likely to manage with everyday tasks around your home and make recommendations for maintaining your independence.
On some occasions, your occupational therapists will work alongside other allied health professionals to assess you. This may mean looking at assessments that your physiotherapist or psychologist has made. By doing this, they can gain a comprehensive picture of the support you’re receiving, what you’re able to do, and your prognosis. Working alongside other allied health professionals also gives them the chance to see your progress and make changes accordingly in a collaborative team approach.
After performing your assessment, your occupational therapist may make recommendations for tools and adaptations. For example, if you’re struggling to access your home, they may recommend the use of a ramp or rails. They can also assess your suitability for various mobility aids that’ll allow you to maintain your independence. Wherever necessary, your occupational therapy team can discuss your plans with your family and others who are caring for you too.
Why use the Concentric Rehab NDIS occupational therapy services?
At Concentric Rehab, we aim to ensure our NDIS occupational therapy services are as accessible as possible. One of the ways we achieve this is by providing mobile visits, as well as assessments at our clinic. If you’re eligible for NDIS occupational therapy and you’re struggling to visit us, you may find that we’re able to come to you instead.
