Concentric Rehabilitation, in conjunction with Dr. Kate Scrivener, a leading stroke expert, has developed Australia’s most comprehensive stroke rehabilitation program, called the Stroke Superheroes Program.
Stroke Superheroes is an intensive, individually tailored program that brings together the latest scientific evidence regarding stroke recovery.
It is designed to help stroke survivors achieve their specific goals within a short time. The program can focus on arm or leg recovery and involves regular sessions at one of our Concentric Rehabilitation Clinics, or alternatively in the comfort of your own home. In-clinic sessions provide you with access to the latest rehabilitation equipment, to really augment your improvements. The equipment includes the Physio Gait harness system, tilt table and FitMi interactive device.
Sessions will begin with one-to-one sessions with a therapist and can then either continue one-to-one or within a group class, depending on the level of needs. The participant will also be provided with an app-based program to complete at home.
To achieve the optimal outcome, we have created a program based on the latest advancements in neuroplasticity (the mechanism through which the brain recovers). To maximise neuroplasticity, this program includes priming and high intensity of practice.
This means the sessions will begin with music and exercise to ‘prime’ your brain, followed by a maximum number of repetitions of practice within the session, with the goal being roughly 300 repetitions per one-hour session.
Together we will set goals based on what the participant would like to achieve within the program and keep a close track of your outcomes. This will include regular video reviews of performance.
If you, or someone you know, is interested in participating in the Stroke Superheroes program, then contact us directly at your closest clinic and we can arrange for your first consultation with one of our expert stroke physiotherapists.
Feel free to join our Stroke Superheroes facebook group, it is an advice and support community for those affected by stroke - survivors, carers, friends and family.
We will share the latest knowledge and research on Stroke, encourage you to ask questions to our Expert Rehab Practitioners and connect with others also affected by Stroke.
